Since ancient times, being on the crossroads of the important trade routes, Ijevan won the glory of a hospitable city. It was one of the cities on the Silk Road and was an inn for numerous traders, from here originated the name of the city: Ijevan or Caravanserai. Ijevan is famous as a carpet-making and wine-making center, which gives world renowned production. Ijevan and the surrounding areas are rich in natural and historical monuments. During this hiking tour you’ll see the caves and the waterfalls of Lastiver. The hike begins at Yenokavan village. On your way you’ll see “The Devil’s Bridge”,not far from which, hidden from a man’s eye in an inaccessible place are the caves of Lastiver. From Pre-Christian times the caves of Lastiver were a sacred place, to which testify the numerous cave pictures. But in the Middle Ages, during the Tartar-Mongolian invasions the caves of Lastiver served as a hiding-place for the village inhabitants. After a pause at the caves a marvelous view is waiting for you: the waterfalls of Lastiver, which are really considered to be wonders of Nature.

Dilijan is famous for its fresh forest air, mild climate, and of course, for its life-giving mineral water. Dilijan was the summer resort and the hunting site of the Armenian kings. Nowadays Dilijan has won glory as a spa center. Today Dilijan and the adjacent areas are on the territory of Dilijan National Park. Going out of Dilijan town and driving north you’ll appear in a deep forest, at the bank of Parz Lake. The Lake is on the altitude of 1335 m above sea level and its water comes from mountain springs. From Parz Lake the hike continues to Lake Gosh, which is 1230 m above sea level. Not far from the lake is the village Gosh, which is famous for Goshavank monastery /12th C/, a masterpiece of medieval Armenian architecture.
